Collection: Congestion

Congested skin is generally characterised by visibly clogged pores which can be caused by a combination of oil build up, dead skin cells and general other contaminants like dirt and makeup. The skins surface may be rough and bumpy. Blackhead and whiteheads are common when the clogged pores are not cleared.

Did you know oily skin types are most prone to congestion.

How to treat it??
The best way to treat this skin concern is by keeping pores clean and clear.

Our favourite ingredients for congested skin are:

Activated Charcoal

Utilised for it absorption properties, activated charcoal is believed to draw out dirt, toxins and impurities from the skin whilst providing a deep cleansing action. This ingredient has been shown in research to have antibacterial properties.

Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic Acid occurs naturally in the body and decreases with age. In the skin it is found in the epidermis and helps keep the skin hydrated due to its high water retention ability. As we mature our production rate decreases and this can be seen with early signs of aging.

Alpha Hydroxy Acids

Our Alpha hydroxy acids are derived from five botanical sources making them a perfect ingredient for vegans. Research and clinical trials suggests these ingredients may assist in increasing skin cell turnover, boosting collagen production, providing gentle exfoliation and brightening rejuvenation of the skin. This is beneficial in congested skin as it acts as an exfoliating cleanser to assist in the removal of pore clogging debris.

Colloidal Silver

Is a solution containing silver particles which are thought to react with the skins surface and provide anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Colloidal silver has long been used throughout history amongst many civilisations for its anti-bacterial properties. Although skin care benefits are still being research further silver products have been used in healthcare settings for some time for these specific properties.
